Empathy Deficit
Empathy deficit means no one is willing to step in someone else shoes in need or to see the world with somebody else eye. Covid-19 has widened empathy deficit among society in the form of black marketing of vaccines and oxygen cylinder.
Very few courageous people shown courage to help others in pandemic. One old person in Delhi left his hospital bed for young person in oxygen crisis saying i have lived my life and you need this bed more than me. This was the bold step to inspire millions to wake up and help the needy person.
When we chose to think like that we chose to broaden ambit of our concern. Our concern should be on food wastage in our city when we hear about thousands sleep without meals. Our concern should be provide shelter for homeless people when it comes to winter. We should think about helping people when flood came some part of the country.
Should we not think about the medical assistance for poor kids and old person who are homeless and die every year because of not getting medical care when they need. Its time to start sense of empathy in the society.
We can't end child poverty, homeless poor problems, or feed the poor only through govt programmes, we should not expect it. All these can be solved through generosity of peoples, work of different organization like generosity of corporations, the charity of religious groups and renewed sense of responsibility among families and societies.
Empathy is very much linked to morality in the society. Look at the society today hate rioting and killing are spread everywhere. Some newspaper in big cities don't even print it, they just list them in one spot, how many mugging last night how many murder last night. How we should deal with this problems, we shouldn't think to just increase the police power. We should increase the spiritual power. Spirituality may increase the empathy in the society.
