Questionable Celebration
A few days back, on March 8th, we witnessed the global celebration to recognise women's achievements in every phase of human life. This day is dedicated to celebrate the contributions of women in numerous field of work and responsibilities.
On this day, women are congratulated through cards, messages or by arranging special events and in many such ways.
But the main point is why we have chosen a specific day to recognise and congratulate women? What is the motive behind this?
Let me set you straight, The main motive behind this day is to make people aware about the importance of women.
Now the question appears - Does one day a year is enough to spread this awareness? Can a day bring them equal status, respect, recognition, security? Can the discrimination between men and women be eliminated in a day? Is it right to celebrate it only on a certain day? There are so many questions on this celebration.
We all know that women's day are celebrated since 1911.We have spent 110 years to get justice for women and still going on. I want to know how many more years we need to make them respected in society? Do we have to wait? Do women have to spend their lives waiting? But till when? How long will it continue? I do not think one day is enough to aware people. I do not think that one day can give them respect and their rights, it is just waste of time.
According to me: literally if we want change in women's life, want to give them respect and equality in society, we have to change ourself, our mentality, and our thinking. For example- if we want to bring a good habit into our life to change a bad habit, first we need to change ourselves and our thinking.Till we do not change our thinking, we cannot adopt or remove any good or bad habit inside us.
In the same way, to remove the discrimination against women's that is flourishing in the society, there is need to change our thinking rather than any women's day. Without it we can not change anything inside or outside. Moving forward in life depends on our thinking.
One more question get in my mind that why women's need awareness? Why only we need to celebrate women's day, why not men's day? Have you ever thought and asked yourself what is the reason behind this? We are all the same, God gave us equal rights, then why one need to aware and another not? Where, when and how did these discrimination ignite in the world, and who started it?
I think it started with our mind, this discriminative thought came out of the mind of a person, he subdued others and gradually it turned into a group and went on moving from one to another and till today it is strengthening its roots.
Till today, this strength remains, why? What is the biggest reason behind this? Is it our mentality? No, it is not only the reason. The biggest reason behind this is a "woman herself". In society, women are responsible for the distinction between men and women because she saw this distinction, endured and never raised a voice, did not take stand for her rights just suffered in fear, her fear increased the confidence of her frontier and they clamp her time by time. But when she realise this acceleration, it was too late because she had lost her respect, position and everything by her own hands. Everyone have respect in their own hands, but in fear they lost it and same happen with women.
Andre Lord has said,
"When we speak we are afraid that our words will not be heard or welcomed. But when we are silent, we are still afraid. Therefore it is better to speak."
So let me clear up that you can not achieve anything, unless you fight for yourself. So take stand for yourself, raise your voice, make people feel your own.
